Event Planning and Execution

For the last 15 years I have helped plan, host, and execute on dozens of D.I.Y. concerts and events. Working with local musicians in Eugene and Portland, I have helped plan multi-state tours, one-off concerts, and even a multi-day music festival. This included booking event space, procurement of equipment, awareness marketing campaigns, grass roots social media, set up and tear down of audio and visual equipment, working with and between musicians and event staff, running merchandise tables, procurement and distribution of food & beverage, and of course making sure everyone had the best time possible.

This is me DJing a midnight set to close out the first night of a multi-day music festival in the woods, under the alias KiDFOX.

I now throw quarterly events in my personal event space for intimate groups ranging from themed events (like Prom for adults) to stimulating EDM dance parties. With every party or event that I plan and host, my strategy is always to keep people interested, distracted, and having fun from start to finish. Creating inviting spaces for people to explore, comfortable areas for conversation, and exciting dance floors are all essential to host a good party.

You might be thinking “This guy just likes to throw house parties, big whoop.” Well you aren’t entirely wrong, but hosting an engaging event that has something for everyone is much more than buying a keg and turning on a bluetooth speaker, because not everyone wants to sit around a foamy keg and drink generic beer, that’s a narrow idea of fun. I like to begin my planning by understanding my guests, because ultimately the party is for them not for me, without that research your just playing with yourself and nobody wants to go to that party.

I have a true passion for hosting events, when my efforts result in smiles and memories I feel fulfilled as well.
